Tun Dr. Mahathir's event 16th & 17th of august

Hey everyone ! :)
So, I just finished my finals and thats the end for term 3.Next week will be the start of my internship and Im so nervous hihihoohohoh cus I will be driving to work and I dont know whether I am manage to do that haha

So on last 16th and 17th of august, me and 14 other friends joined this event which is the Tun Dr.Mahathir's open house with Palace of Golden Horses Hotel. It was definitely a very exhausting, memorable and something that I will remember forever.Estimated pax was 10,000 people but more than 20,000 people came and it was crayyy crayyy!Although this might be our first time working with POGH,they treated us equally like we're part of their team . I am really happy to work with them and would like to work with them again in the future. They are really fun to work with hihi and I am totally super happy Chef Halim came over to visit us while we're working during our first day.

On the first day, as we all arrived at the kitchen,we went straight to the uniform pick up section to get our uniforms and aprons. Then after changing,we waited in front of the chef's office. Then,we were divided into groups . Each group will be working at a different department and mine was Garde Manger which is the cold kitchen.I peeled a duration of 6,000 egg skin,a sack of sweet potatoes and cut about 4 trays of tauhu. We worked for 12 hours including a 1 hour break.

On the second day, we all gathered at the loading bay with all the chefs and trainees. Then after the lorry came, we transfered all the raw stuffs in it and then we went straight into a van that was meant for us and off we went to Tun Dr.Mahathir's house. There were about 6 tents. 3 for the buffet line,1 for Garde Manger and Desserts, 1 for the Refilling section and 1 for Hot Kitchen. After we ate our breakfast which was a plate of Kuey Teow with mineral water at about 0830 am , we gathered in the middle of the field for our briefing. We were seperated into sections and I was in section A, which was the busiest buffet line since we are placed directly in front of the guests table sooooo yeahhh then off we went to our section ,get em ready and be prepared for war. The chef incharge which was Chef Nasri is a really nice person haha we talked a bit and he shared about the same previous event and about the hotel and stuff bla bla . So, we all worked our ass off til there this one time,if you ever feel like you are going to faint or passed out,you just have to tell yourself that you aint got no time for that.By the end of the day, it totally paid off cus we learned a lot of things and experienced a lot of new things... although both of my hands were swollen due to hot items when refilling and I can barely feel my legs and of course,we got paid $$$$ muahaha but well, the most important thing is to work together as a team and be discipline.

After all the hard work, all trainees and part timers was directed to enter the hotel's lorry hahaha it was our first time sitting in a lorry and the lorry brought us straight to the hotel. We took some rest in the cafeteria and some of them went fast asleep. After the clock strikes 5, we went infront of the chef's office as we were told and waited there for a couple of minutes. We are then called to come inside the office and there's the executive chef, Chef Wilfred, sitting and facing us. He told us that we are among one of the most best students he ever worked with and that he is happy and satisfied with our team work and discipline. We are then given a certificate or a testimonial each which is the first time in the POGH history for part timers. We are then got paid cash then we waved goodbye to the staffs and to all the chefs. My Garde Manger chef, Chef Malik said to me "I don't care what happened,I want to see your face again next year!" hahahaha caaalmm dooowwnnnn oh well I had fun .. all of us did. We sure made Chef Halim proud as it was his previous working place so as we are presenting Taylor's University, we are also representing Chef Halim as we are his students and we will continue his legacy.

Chef Halim whatsapped me a couple of hours after that telling me that Chef Wilfred sent him an email saying how happy he is to work with us and will be looking forward to work with us again in the future. Chef Halim is very proud of us and somehow it makes me wanna improve myself more and gain confidence in myself as well. This event was definitely something and I will remember it forever.

Theres a couple of picture I've snapped before and after the event.
